SAAB Bilmuseum Trollhättan

Sweden Map
The SAAB Car Museum is located in Trollhättan in Sweden. Trollhättan is a fascinating town situated at the southernmost point of the great Lake Vänern. The town grew up around the mouth of this great lake harnessing it's power to supply electricity to the industry. Great engineering feats were performed to construct huge locks enabling ships to travel from the lake along the Göta River to Göteborg. There is much to see in this town, The old and new hydroelectric power stations (waterfalls floodlight at night), Innovatum Museum, Art Gallery, The Lock Systems and some nice shops.

Saab Museum

The Museum (pictured to the right) is an absolute must for all SAAB car fans. There is a large display (increased in late 99) of all SAAB models ever produced including the rather charming SAABO caravan. The museum is large, light and spacious. The cars displayed are of the highest quality (as you would expect). There are numerous example of all SAABS from the first model ever produced to the the more recent ones.

The Original prototype SAAB is preserved with great pride at the museum it is in extremely good condition - particularly impressive when you consider that it was built in 1947. It must have caused a great sensation when it was shown to the public then - The styling be way ahead of it's time. The car is still very much roadworthy and is driven regularly - often by Eric Carlsson.
